This year at CUTA, we were thrilled to join the celebration of CUTA’s 120th anniversary. Attendees were treated to a fascinating historical display, featuring a timeline of key events that have shaped Canada’s transit industry over the past century.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed with live entertainment and an exciting display of a vintage 1967 GM transit bus, adding a touch of nostalgia to the event.
The show provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with our partners and explore innovative products and technologies that our customers will appreciate in their buses. We had insightful conversations with the teams at Freedman seating, Q’Straints, Gerflor, and Hanover Displays, who showcased some exciting new products that would make excellent additions to our lineup.
For our part, we brought along a StarTrans Senator II bus and a Forest River Van. The StarTrans Senator II we brought is a high-floor bus with a 10-passenger capacity and 5-wheelchair configuration. It also features a flat floor to the front which is advantageous for accessibility, allowing for easier boarding and movement, especially for passengers with mobility challenges, wheelchairs, strollers, or luggage.
This Forest River van model is designed so that every passenger, regardless of mobility, uses the same entrance. Selecting a configuration such as this means there are no modifications needed to the vehicle. This approach preserves the vehicle’s original OEM structural integrity.
The railing installed on the floor allows for a flexible seating configuration with the option to add or remove seats as desired.
Visitors were impressed by the new mechanized lift we demonstrated in the wheelchair accessible van, which seamlessly moves to the side when not in use, enhancing efficiency and accessibility.
This year’s CUTA event was a significant and enriching experience. Celebrating CUTA’s 120th anniversary, we not only connected with our industry’s history but also engaged deeply with our partners to discover and discuss innovations that will drive the future of transit. We’re excited to integrate these new products and technologies into our offerings, continuing to enhance the travel experience for our customers.
